At a Glance

Ayia Napa grew from a fishing village into Cyprus's best-known beach resort, but its port facilities remain small-scale. A compact day can combine the old fishing harbour, Thalassa sea museum and medieval monastery; taxis or buses extend the visit to Nissi Beach, Makronissos or Cape Greko. Calls are uncommon and may use the fishing shelter, the newer marina west of town or a ship-specific landing, so exact instructions matter more here than a generic terminal map.

Did you know?

Ayia Napa has stories most visitors walk straight past.

  • 1

Ayia Napa takes its name from a term meaning 'holy wooded valley'.

  • 2

The old fishing shelter now also serves excursion boats and small cruise craft.

  • 3

MUSAN places 93 artworks beneath the sea as an evolving underwater forest.

If you have…

⏱ 2 hours

  1. 1.From the old harbour, walk uphill to Thalassa Museum if open.
  2. 2.Continue to the medieval monastery and town square.
  3. 3.Return directly to the confirmed berth; from the marina, use the arranged transfer both ways.

🕐 4 hours

  1. 1.Visit Thalassa Museum and the monastery before midday heat.
  2. 2.Choose a harbour seafood lunch or taxi to the Sculpture Park.
  3. 3.Return via the seafront with at least 30–45 minutes in reserve.

🌅 A full day

  1. 1.Choose one main theme: Cape Greko nature, Nissi/Makronissos beach and archaeology, or town heritage.
  2. 2.Pre-book road transport if landing at the marina or travelling to Cape Greko.
  3. 3.Have lunch at the harbour or a traditional taverna near town.
  4. 4.Avoid combining a boat trip with distant road sightseeing on this uncommon call.

The area around

Ayia Napa's centre, harbour and museum form the easy core. Beaches stretch west toward the marina, while Cape Greko and Protaras lie east. Larnaca is possible on a long call, but a beach-and-nature day usually fits better.

Nissi and Makronissos beaches

10–20 min by road

Golden sand · Swimming · Makronissos tombs

Cape Greko National Forest Park

15–25 min by road

Sea-cliff views · Nature trails · Agioi Anargyroi chapel

Protaras

20–35 min by road

Fig Tree Bay · Promenade · Swimming

Larnaca

40–60 min by road

Saint Lazarus Church · Finikoudes promenade · Salt lake

Things cruise passengers get wrong

  • ⚠️The old fishing shelter and Ayia Napa Marina are separate facilities about 7 km apart.
  • ⚠️No regular 2026 ocean-cruise call schedule was found; ship instructions override generic port information.
  • ⚠️Cape Greko and underwater activities require heat, sea-state and return-time checks.

Weather through the year

April, May, October and early November are comfortable for Cape Greko walks; June to September is best for swimming but very hot.
