Did you know?

Zeebrugge has stories most visitors walk straight past.

  • 1

The ABC terminal's initials stand for Artes-Brugge-Cruise.

  • 2

Port policy limits Zeebrugge to two cruise ships on one day.

  • 3

Bruges' canal boats all follow the same regulated route and fare.

If you have…

⏱ 2 hours

  1. 1.Use the free port shuttle to the ABC terminal.
  2. 2.Stay local: walk the marina or take the coastal tram toward the beach.
  3. 3.Return on the port shuttle well before gangway closing.

🕐 4 hours

  1. 1.Take the fastest pre-arranged transfer to Bruges.
  2. 2.Walk Markt, Burg and Rozenhoedkaai without attempting a long museum visit.
  3. 3.Return to Zeebrugge at least 90 minutes before all-aboard.

🌅 A full day

  1. 1.Transfer early to Bruges and start at Markt.
  2. 2.Choose either a timed Belfry climb or the Church of Our Lady museum.
  3. 3.Take a canal boat if the queue is manageable.
  4. 4.Have a reserved Flemish lunch, then walk through the Beguinage.
  5. 5.Leave Bruges with a generous road or rail buffer and use the mandatory port shuttle back to the ship.

The area around

Bruges is the main destination, but Zeebrugge also gives access to coastal towns, Lissewege and farther Flemish cities. Bruges fills a day without adding Ghent or Brussels.

Bruges

20–35 min by road

Markt and Belfry · Canals and Burg · Flemish art and food

Lissewege

15–25 min by taxi

Whitewashed village · Church tower · Quiet lanes

Blankenberge

15–20 min by coastal tram

Beach · Pier · Promenade

Things cruise passengers get wrong

  • 🚨The mandatory free shuttle only links ship and terminal exit; Bruges requires separate transport.
  • 🚨Allow at least 90 minutes from central Bruges to all-aboard unless the cruise line specifies more.
  • ⚠️Public-transport routes and cruise-line transfers vary by call; verify them on the day.

Weather through the year

May, June and September suit Bruges walking; summer is busiest and winter days are short.
